In spring 2007, actor and composer, Zoltán G. Bereczky (BGZ) came up with an ambitious and seemingly unfeasible idea of creating a new musical via the Internet and staging it with an international cast on Broadway in New York.

Creating a new musical is obviously a time-consuming process. It often takes years for a new piece to be presented in front of the public in several workshops, and an even longer way until it gets onto Broadway. This long process is needed for the creative team to make sure that the musical will be successful and the production gets its perfect shape on stage to be worthy for a premiere in a Broadway theatre in New York, the capital in the world of musical theater.

Although organizing a worldwide online casting seems to be possible through the social media, would actors and actresses be interested in the project? Would there be investors? Could we create an exciting story or play that would make it possible to realize the idea? With these questions in mind, he decided that the only way to find the answers is to try to make his idea come true. Thus, two years after the conception of the idea BGZ established a firm called Musical On Broadway Ltd.

"As the first part of the experiment, we set up the musicalonbroadway.com website together with fan pages of the project on the most popular social networking websites. The project was launched as 'A worldwide online audition for the world's first truly international production ever planned to open on Broadway!' The first part of the experiment was essentially an indirect survey. We launched a promotion campaign on Facebook which gathered more than 600 fans in a couple of days. In the meantime, musicalonbroadway.com was visited from 480 cities in 74 different countries. Seeing these numbers, we ended the Facebook campaign, as we were convinced that there is a considerable interest in this kind of production and so the project implementation phase was ready to be started...

In the meantime, one of our main goals was to create a truly original storyline for the show and the second was to build a really strong creative team - which is still expanding - that would keep up with the expectations of this project.

Finally, we came up with an idea that seems ironically self-evident now after a year of struggling and tons of other failed attempts to create a noteworthy plot.
We gave the title 'Musical On Broadway' to not only the project but the musical itself with the subtitle 'A self-parodistic musical comedy about a seemingly unaccomplishable project, almost the same as... this one'.

Oh, we almost forgot to mention that we've got young Hollywood actress Brittani Noel who will be the host of Musical On Broadway's online audition webseries on YouTube.

So watch out! ;)"
